This child from Auvergne is Altaroche, deputy for Puy-de-Dôme. One of Daumier's beliefs is that all Auvergnats, without exception, are carriers of water, that is his invariable response; therefore Daumier, in spite of all our observations, insisted on representing Altaroche as a voter.
