The military campaign of Napoleon Bonaparte in Egypt was coupled with a scientific expedition during which scholars conducted scientific, geographical, ethnological, economic surveys on the territory, giving birth to French Egyptology. The Description of Egypt is the meeting of the results of these surveys, accompanied by illustrations in which hundreds of artists and technicians participated. The writings and the drawings executed during the four years of campaign were united in several volumes. This plate is the 43rd of the third volume of the Antiquities.
